SEN’s members elect a Management Committee annually in accordance with the Constitution and the Associations Incorporation Act 2015.
Fraser Maywood (Chair)
Fraser has over 40 years of international experience in the Oil & Gas, mining and power sectors. Roles include engineering, project management, business management and management consulting.
He is a passionate and vocal advocate for the clean energy transition. Fraser has been a member of SEN since 2021 and the out-going treasurer.

Dr Rob Phillips (Vice Chair)
Rob is a retired scientist and science educator who played leadership roles in educational technology and university policy development over 35 years. He has a long-term interest in environmental sustainability and a long history of contributing to the broader community. His major role in SEN has been in making SEN’s work more accessible to the broader community, including briefing notes, submissions to various government inquiries, and three major reports: the Kimberley Clean Energy Roadmap (2018), the SEN Jobs Report (2020) and the Broome Clean Energy Study (2022). Rob has been a SEN member since 2013.
Louise Tomlin (Association Secretary)
Louise is a Sustainability & Health, Safety and Environment Advisor with experience in Australia’s greenhouse gas and pollution reporting schemes, Corporate Social Reporting and Global Sustainability Goals. She has worked onsite and corporate for various industries including energy (fossil fuel and renewable) and mining for 12 years. Louise has been assisting the SEN Committee since October 2020 and been the SEN Secretary since June 2021
Jared Orchard (Treasurer)
Jared is a finance professional with over 20 years of experience working within the financial service and public practice industries. Jared has held roles on Board of Directors and management committees. Since returning with his family to Perth in November 2021, Jared has spent time studying, including in the area of Business Sustainability Management for which he has a strong personal interest. Jared joined SEN in September 2022.
Paul Caston (Modelling Working Group Team Lead)
Paul has BSc in Physics from UWA. He is a retired IT Professional with over 40 years’ experience in a diversity of roles in the mining, banking, government and transport sectors in Australia, the UK, Singapore and USA. Paul joined SEN in 2018 and has led the SEN modelling group since March 2022. His passion is to apply information technology to solving real world problems such as the energy transition.
Brian Van Bueren (Technical Working Group Lead)
Brian has over 35 years’ engineering and business management experience in the O&G, Energy and Mining industries. Brian has been a SEN committee member since November’21.

Matthew Saxon (Infrastructure Working Group Lead)
Matthew is a document management consultant with 20 years’ experience in the Mineral Processing, Energy and Infrastructure Engineering sectors with specific expertise in corporate and industrial Carbon Inventories. Matthew holds tertiary qualifications in Energy Management, Sustainability & Climate Policy with extensive knowledge in the fields of Energy Management, Policy and Economics. Rob Meecham (Interim)
Rob Meecham has been pursuing the transition of the SWIS to renewable energy since 2017 and has been involved in policy generation in SEN. He chaired the SEN Policy Committee in 2018 and was Vice Chair in 2019. He continues to advocate for the extraction of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere to reduce its concentration in an attempt to cap temperature rise.
Jordan Diffen (Regen / Member Services Working Group Lead)
Jordan is mechanical / integration engineer with 5 years post graduate experience in advanced engine modelling and product development. Jordan has been an active member of the modelling group since joining SEN in September 2022.
Gus King (Interim)
Gus is a long-standing member well known to all at SEN with over 45 years’ experience in information technology, predominantly in software development. Gus is the author of SIREN, SEN’s modelling tool. Gus holds tertiary qualifications in Science (Geology, Energy Studies) and management (MBA). Gus has been an active member of SEN since 2007.
Len Bunn (Interim)
Len is another long-standing member, also well known to all at SEN.Len is an electrical/electronic engineer who worked as a systems engineer and then company director before retiring in 2014. He has been an active member with SEN since 2011, predominantly on the Tech team but also for a couple of years on the committee.
Ian Porter (Committee Advisor – Technical)
Ian has 45 years of experience in the oil, gas, nuclear and conventional power industries in roles ranging from R&D, project management, business development. He has strong belief and confidence that Australia can play a major role in the future renewables economy and is deeply committed to ensuring that happens. Ian is a long standing SEN member and past SEN chair with unparalleled knowledge of the SWIS and the various agencies involved.
